Marbleton

Marbleton is a town located in Sublette County, Wyoming, United States.

Marbleton was founded in the early 1900s as a result of the development of the oil and gas industry in the nearby Jonah Field. The town was named after Marble, Colorado, the hometown of a local businessman who helped establish the town.

During its early years, Marbleton served as a center for the oil and gas industry, with many residents employed in the nearby Jonah Field. The town also had a significant agricultural sector, with many local farmers raising crops and livestock.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Marbleton saw significant growth due to the construction of the Fontenelle Dam on the nearby Green River. The dam provided water and electricity to the surrounding area, and many residents moved to Marbleton to take advantage of the new opportunities.

Today, Marbleton remains an important center for the energy industry, with many residents employed in the oil and gas fields of the nearby Jonah Field. The town is also a popular destination for outdoor recreation, with easy access to nearby hiking trails, fishing streams, and hunting areas. Marbleton's history is preserved at the Sublette County Historical Society Museum, which features exhibits on the town's early settlers, ranchers, and oil and gas workers.
